What is your screenplay about?
A young father who walked away from his family returns after hearing of his young sons passing.
What genres does your screenplay under?
Drama, plain and simple.
Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
A great deal of us struggle with what it means to become an adult. The responsibilities that we take on, even if we’re not yet ready for it. A movie would allow for a more full discussion of this problem and try to explain who seemingly good people make such harrowing choices.
How would you describe this script in two words?
Father’s Regret
What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Almost Famous, which remains one of the best movies about art, growing up, friendship and ultimately being true to yourself.
How long have you been working on this screenplay?
The idea has been kicked around in my head for a few years now.
How many stories have you written?
I try to write every single day, but finished works I’d put at around 50 or so.
What motivated you to write this screenplay?
It comes from a personal place in a way. Though I have no children, so many friends and peers are struggling with the idea of becoming a parent and more than a few have sometimes admitted to wanting to run away from it.
What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
Just trying to create a compelling story in a single page was the biggest challenge.
Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Music, film-making, anything that allows me to collaborate with others.
Any advice or tips you’d like to pass on to other writers?
Always be listening and active. You never know where you’ll find your next story.
