DIVERSITY Festival Best Scene: Injustice! Ex Parte Crow Dog, by Christopher Manydeeds

Injustice! United States vs Tribes is a TV anthology series about Federal Indian Law in dynamic US Supreme Court decisions. The series will address how the United States and Tribes decided the course of history through a hostile court system. Ex Parte Crow Dog is about a why the Federal government came to have criminal jurisdiction over Tribes for murder. This is a case rife with corruption and pettiness. At the heart, it is about whose justice is “better” and how it affected all Tribes. In the only recorded example of Tribal justice, the Tribe’s justice system is built around restitution to the victim’s families. Federal Indian Agents cry “white man’s justice, red man’s revenge. Crow Dog is illegally arrested and to be hanged by the Territorial Court. Only a last-minute appeal to the US Supreme Court can prevent a grievous injustice with Crow Dog’s life in the balance!
