In Mexico on average, 10 women or girls are killed daily nationwide. These rampant murders are attributed to machismo, gender inequality, domestic violence and a problematic justice system. Papalotzin is the Nahuatl word for butterfly , in my culture the Monarch Butterfly symbolized the spirits of our loved one that have come to visit us from the after life, as well as the representation of death and re-birth. With this short script I want to shine a light on this epidemic, and start the conversation to ignite change. We follow Soledad, a 36 year old ER Nurse as she tries to go home, but fate has a different plan.
